Recently I had issues where VMware Remote Console was not working, every time I ran the installer it would run the uninstall. Needless to say this was frustrating.
Eventually I had to remove the following directories and re-run the installer to get this to work.
rm -rf /etc/vmware-installer rm-rf /etc/vmware-vix
