How nVidia’s GPUs score in a nVidia Graphic Card Comparison Chart

One of the most important factors in choosing a graphics card is the memory bandwidth of the graphics card.  The vRAM speed of a card is shown in GB/s. The more memory your graphics card can process the higher FPS you can achieve.  A lot of the latest GPUs have very similar clock speeds but their memory bandwidth differs quite a lot.  This is due to architectural changes.  I haven’t seen any graphics card memory bandwidth charts anywhere on the net, that’s why I made a modern one.  This chart shoes the 5 series from nVidia memory bandwidth; Also with price.  This graphics card memory bandwidth chart information comes directly from the specs which means it’s very accurate.

Although graphics cards boast a much higher Cuda core count, this isn’t very relevant when we talk about gaming performance. Cuda cores really only matter about performance on an application basis. When we want to check performance on a gaming basis we look more towards the memory bandwidth of a graphics card. The 5xx series is based off of the Fermi GPU which is the 4xx series. However advancements in nm technology have made the gpu smaller, and still keep it’s speeds. NVidia knew they couldn’t just re-brand these cards so they added more cores, memory, speed and LOTS of optimization. This is what makes the GTX 590 the fastest card ever so far. The GTX 600 Series is expected to use a totally new architecture code-named Kepler. Kepler is expected to launch in 2012, soon we’ll have to make a new graphics memory bandwidth chart due to the release. The bad news is that Kepler is expected to launch in the 4th Quarter of 2012 which is near the end of the year.
